PanoTools:
Stereo panorama technique
Asmordean 2004-Jan-08 22:20:54
Intrigued by the Mars image I tried to make a stereo pano on my own.
I calibrated the camera to be on the nodal point for the left view. The
shot consists of 8 images taken at 45° steps. The camera was then moved
horizontally to the right by about 6cm and the process was repeated but
24 images were taken in 15° steps. Since I was just doing a really fast
test the image is quite thin vertically but it is 3D.
Note: I messed up, I have the red/blue reverse. I have it set for red
right eye and blue left eye.
The image at the URL is just a flat JPEG, but if you load it up in
PTViewer you can see the effect.
I used Panorama Factory to stitch the images for speed since this is
just a test of an idea. PF also does some warping a bit easier.
