For PC users Satori http://www.satoripaint.com/
has good 48 bit image manipulation features (better than Photoshop).
So if you can warp your 48bit component images on a Mac
with Panorama Tools maybe
you could bring them back to the PC and stitch them by hand with
Satori. The advantage is that you can adjust overall scene levels
and color better with the finished pano in 48 bit and you are keeping
more of the original information in your images til the final step
(converting to 24 bit).

Sometimes if I have an
image (24bit) - not necessarily panoramic -
which I have to color correct etc I convert it to
48 bit temporarily and do the correction there and then
convert back to 24 bit at the end. I have a notion
it can reduce the possibility of posterization etc.
Photoshop5.5 can script many 48 bit operations
but doesnt have the transform or layering functions
with 48 bit you need for hand stitching

The Panorama Factory stitcher (PC)
http://www.panoramafactory.com/features.html
accepts 45 bit images
