	When I first read HFOV < 360 deg, I didn't realize you
meant partial panoramas. I was thinking > 360, which is
another reality, or imaginary numbers of some sort.
Actually, it reminds me of an idea to have an eliptical,
rather than a spherical space. After all, the circle is a
special case of the elipse, so the formulas might work for
ovoids too. 
	Here's one thing that would be nice with VFOV > 360 deg. 
Show a building with inner courtyard, that goes up three
stories. You could have each level relatively undistorted,
with the small skylight and floor. Shot as a multirow pano
at 3 levels. Or rendered with 3D graphics.
