I suppose this is OK, but my first inclination was to click
on the text to navigate to a different pano. This obviously
doesn't work. I want simple naviagation that even newbies
can use.

Also, I think putting buttons down the side would look a little
cheesy, especially if the text (in HTML) was off to the left of the link.

Now then, the method that Helmut has set up with the frame overlay
is very powerful and allows you to create buttons, etc. wherever
you want, but it does require additional effort. I would still prefer to
use a
pop up menu to naviagate as in:

http://mrgummybear.tripod.com/ (should work with most browsers)

I believe this method has several advantages:

1. No graphics to load for frame overlay (saves time for modem users)
2. No 'shotspots' to set (a pain to reconfigure if you change viewer size)
4. Wouldn't necessarily have to make buttons in PhotoShop.
3. Takes up very little space in the browser.

Notice how you can set the menu options and the file names associated
with them in the HTML via applet <params>.

I think that something like this could be incorporated into the applet
by using two panels and a Java Layout Manager; the top panel for
the viewer and the bottom pannel for AWT controls.

Then again, maybe people think the current method is sufficient?

Best,

Gummy

p.s. we still need to be able to change the applets background color!
