proj-imim: Single file tours Helmut Dersch 2000-May-31 09:43:34
Using the controls built into PTViewer it is possible
to create self-contained tours in a single file using
Sun's free 'Jar' utility available for any platform
from www.javasoft.com.

All files loaded from the applet (ie all panoramic images,
all hotspot images, frames etc) including the ptviewer.class
file can be packaged and compressed into one jar-file
by simply dropping them onto the 'Jar' application. Only
the html-file has to be kept separately, and must use
its 'archive' tag to point to the jar-file. This does
not work for files loaded from the html-file, so you
should only use internal PTViewer controls.

To playback simply double click the html-file, which launches
your default broswer, which in turn reads and processes the
jar-file. This is useful for sending tours by email etc.
The packaged tours are visible on any java platform.

I have tested this using the Apple (MRJ) version of
jar, and it works great. There is a small bug in the jar
compressor that prevents it from processing dropped folders.
For this you have to manually enter the correct folder name
in the jar-dialog.
