proj-imim: ptviewer java applet on 200MHz Mac Carol Geary 2000-Apr-16 20:05:55
Just tested ptviewer java applet on 200MHz Mac. It is very
bad. This is StarMax 4000/200, OS8.5, 64MB RAM. NC 4.6 will
start a pan but either goes to + or -90 degrees, top or
bottom. It seems to want to autorotate and is impossible to
control with the cursor. IE 4.01 will not move at all with
the cursor. Both browsers will respond to the keyboard
controls, but very slowly.

Is it safe to say that this viewer must be used with 233MHz
or higher CPU? Or is it the Java? I might not have done the
right java thing on that machine. I can't remember. I
haven't kept tabs on the limitations of my machine or
ptjviewer. It would be nice to have a little chart of the
minimum needs on the most common platforms. But I forget,
this is still betaware, still not a version 1. Must be patient.
