Can anyone explain the Ipix patent situation?

I've been trying to understand the Ipix patents and their impact on
the commercial use of 360 deg panos, especially as applied to the
'virtual home tours' used in the real estate business.
The wiki has some rather limited information. Also a search of the
forum turned up some very limited information (someone needs to take a
look at that search feature..."...your search timed out"... is a real
pain in the butt). Plus I tried a search on the web, only to come up
with a bunch more scattered and opinionated (rather than factual) data.
Anybody have the facts?
PS I'm mainly interested in how this applies in the US.
