Interestingly, I've not done much with immersive 360 panos,
but I have done rather a lot of varied things using tools
originally intended for panoramas (Hugin, mainly).

In particular, I made a hi-res capture (circa 250 DPI) of an 11 by 6 foot map
from 1830, using a cantilever arm tripod, and "mosaic mode".

I've also used Hugin's masking and mosaic mode to photograph a guitar's label
through the strings, and end up with a clean image - no strings!!
