PanoTools:
Location of MOV files for PTMViewer

On my home computer (not on a website) I have made a GIS system from
35,000 aerial photos, maps and satellite images.
It covers my 160x120Km 'area of interest' in North Wales/N.W.England.
You can zoom from the 'master' level down to a 5x3.75 Km area,
displaying image data and any associated HTML pages at each level.
Some of that information will be spherical and cylindrical pano's.
Because I use the MS Tabular Data Control (TDC), this system has to be
viewed with IE even though I normally use FireFox.
The top-level page is named A.htm. That is split into four subareas,
so the next-level pages are AA,AB,AC and AD.htm.
At the bottom level there are 1024 pages named AAAAA.htm to DDDDD.htm.
Those names imply particular geographic co-ordinates.
I do not wish to install QuickTime on this computer so I am trying to
use PTViewer.
It is convenient for all panoramas to be in a folder at a higher level
and even a different drive.
This is fine for equirectangular, it does not work for MOV files
(using PTMViewer).
They have to be in the same or lower-level than the code, otherwise I
get the dreaded red-screen.
Codewise, it is difficult to see what is causing this problem or if it
is a security-settings issue.
Is there any way I can get this to work ?
I have tried Thomas' GLPanoView plugin instead but that just gives
error-messages with IE and a black screen.
I have also tried running 'FSPViewer.exe' directly from a URL (using
ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell")) but have not managed to pass the
filename to it.
Anyway, maybe that is not a good idea, even if restricted just to my
own computer.
This is so tedious ............ :-)
Any ideas (apart from using QT) ?
