Thanks for all. In fact I noted on the wiki page the use of the dummy image...
but did not figure out what it was for!. a small justification for it could help
people like me.

There's an icon for regional settings in your windows control panel.
You can set the delimiter to . or to ,
That makes the difference how windows displays numbers. 12.5 or 12,5
for twelve and a half.

the autopano-sift page on the wiki uses a dummy image to solve that
problem. Have a look.
