Hello Romuald and all.

Expressing the spherical panorama in print form has been a quest for me too.

The equirectangular format (or Mercator projection) of the sphere has too
much visual distortion at the poles. A visual solution is remapping the
equirectangular to a 4pi Steradian (or Hammer projection) image.

I first saw this on a page by Tetsuya Uwai:

I have a page explaining 4pi Steradian:

We can also slide the wrappped panorama left or right with the Offset PS
filter to recompose our image.

We can also use PTools PS Adjust or Remap filter to recompose the
compostion based on tilt and roll too.

Another projection is called hyperbolic. "Hyperbolic space is an infinite
space projected onto a finite volume of space."
http://graphics.stanford.edu/papers/h3/html/node4.htm
This projection is easily accessible from Flaming Pear's Flexify PS filter.

The hyperbolic projection is my favorite as it is visually quite stunning
for prints. http://360vr.com/flagstaff2

Dan Slater http://www.nearfield.com/~dan/photo/wide/sphere/index.htm
and Ford Oxxal http://www.pictosphere.com/what_is_circular_perspective.html
have also showed various spherical projections.

This should keep everyone busy for a while ;-)
