PanoTools: Re: Panotools or Realviz stitcher ? tflyfish2002 2005-Sep-11 18:07:59
So far all the comparison has been done with PTGUI 4 and Realviz 4.0,
Now we have PTGUI version 5 if only in beta form at the moment. Joost
has "raised the bar" with the latest version and it really a big
improvement over the previous version. The "Wizard" function should
make it much easier to use for the novice. But please note that
Joost's site does no longer download PTTools for 360 fisheye pano's,
you now need to go and find this for yourself. The Wiki gives you
references to URL's to find the good version of PTtools.

I have both Realviz and PTGui and I was only using Realviz to convert
Equirectangular output from PTGUI to Quicktime format. But then came
along #removed# which is free and lets you put in hotspots on your
Quicktime pano's. Realviz can make some nice pano's but not with the
control that you have with PTGUI. Now that Apple in all it's wisdom
decided to make the Quicktime plugin download so massive. I am not
likely to use it at all. I will stick to PTviewer.

So, download the Realviz free trial, but I bet you end up with PTGui
and PanoTools.
